Laura Breksa

PERSONAL PURSUITS COUNCILMOM

Looking out from her empty nest, Laura Breksa can see the value of nestling her four children under her wings even more clearly before they were ready to fly. Laura has a husband, four children, a daughter-in-law, and one grandchild. She enjoys hunting for stories in her family history, walking on smooth paths in pretty places, and placing the right word in the right place.

Laura had the privilege of growing up on California’s Central Coast, in a beautiful valley that ended at the ocean on one side and spilled out onto green rolling hills on the other. She has lived in four states since marriage, having a baby in each one.

While not crafty, Laura made awesome Halloween costumes and better-than-average birthday cakes. She has been a member of Toastmasters since 2017 and enjoys improving her public speaking skills.

As an epileptic, she is aware of hidden disabilities. As a Navy wife, she knows what it is like to sacrifice without glory. She holds fast to creative problem-solving as a life skill. She knows some days, success as a mom means nothing more than you providing food, saying, “I love you,” and laughing together. Her favorite thing to do when her kids were home was to stuff snacks and water bottles into a bag, load the bag and the kids in the car and drive away and on to an adventure! She was a full-time mom from 1994-2022.

A firm believer in goal setting, big and small, Laura has a Bachelor’s of Sociology and a master’s in public administration and classifies herself as a Lifelong Learner. Among other small goals, she wore only black, white, grey, and denim for a year, did not shop at Joann’s for a whole entire year, cleaned and purged an area of her home no one saw once a week for a month and most recently whittled down her wardrobe to a neat capsule without buying more than one extra clothing item.

She is here at Momivate because she believes in motherhood and in moms. She serves as our Personal Pursuits CouncilMom.
