Dr. Elayna Fernández is an influential Latina storyteller, and multiple-time bestselling author, recently honored with The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award and named a Woman of Influence by SUCCESS Magazine.
She is a single mom of 4 daughters, ranging from ages 5-22; two were born in California and two were born in Texas, where she currently lives.
Elayna is a firm believer that motherhood is a high calling and that a mom’s influence is immeasurable. As a homeschooling mom and mom educator, she understands that motherhood can be as triggering as it is transformational. Through her blog, thePositiveMOM.com, she has empowered millions of moms in over 160 countries around the world to be present, peaceful, playful, and on purpose.
She has been a full-time entrepreneur and Story Strategist for 20 years and is the creator of the 5-step S.T.O.R.Y. System for Transformational Storytelling.
Born and raised in a slum, an immigrant to the United States, and a multiple-time trauma survivor, she weaves her lived experiences into her storytelling and teaches storytelling principles to help leaders, parents, and entrepreneurs “transform their trauma so they can stop transmitting it” so we can prevent, buffer, and recover from Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Her mission is to help people break cycles, find peace, and feel whole.
Elayna’s journey is a testament that, as she declares, “your adversity is not your destiny.”
She’s presented her inspiring teachings at the United Nations, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the CDC, Prevent Child Abuse America, the FRIENDS National Center for Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP), the National Association of Family Child Care, The Children’s Trust, and others, and her work has been featured on FORBES, WSJ, SUCCESS Magazine, Inc., Brit + Co, SXSW, Authority Magazine, NBC, ABC, CBS, Scary Mommy, Yahoo! CNN, Real Leaders, FOX, The Huffington Post, Univision, Telemundo, LATINA, Good Morning America, BRAINZ Magazine, and more!
Her passions include poetry, musical theater, chess, and the hula hoop. If you find her running, you can safely assume someone is chasing her.
Her core values are love, inclusion and belonging, safety and support, respect, partnership, vulnerability, and learning.
She is grateful to be able to contribute to the Momivate team in impacting moms and supporting motherhood.
