Brittany Sewall with her family

BRITTANY SEWALL

VOLUNTEER

Brittany is a Vermont resident but grew up in the chilly town of North Pole, Alaska until she was 18 years old. She wears many different hats. Most recently she earned the hat of motherhood to a beautiful boy, who is now four months old. She also wears the hat of a nurse, wife, dog mom, and traveler. She has been an RN for almost seven years, with experience in family practice, surgical floors, and procedural endoscopy. She loves being able to help patients during some of their most vulnerable times in life.

Brittany married her other half, Tommy, in October of 2023 in a rustic barn in Vermont. They have two amazing dogs – Sophie, a nine year old Silver Lab who marches to the beat of her own drum, and Minka, a three year old Chocolate Lab/Australian Shepard who is attached to her moms hip 24/7. These girls love hiking the beautiful White Mountains, swimming, snuggling, and of course lots and lots of treats! Brittany and Tommy enjoy the outdoors, hiking, gardening, playing games, and traveling. They got engaged during a five day hiking trek in Peru, and also hiked the Tour du Mount Blanc over 10 days, visited Paris, and spent two weeks in Thailand while Brittany was pregnant! Brittany has also been a part of two medical trips. Her first trip was one week in Honduras, each day spent in a different town seeing people that lived locally and traveled miles to seek medical care. Her second trip was two weeks in Rwanda, spending time at hospitals, assisting with endoscopic procedures and gastrointestinal care. She would love to do more of these in the future.

Four months ago, Brittany gave birth to her beautiful baby boy, Everett. Her pregnancy was seamless and relatively uneventful, until the very end. She had complications that resulted in her having to be induced early, followed by a traumatic and complicated C-section. The next eight weeks after Everett entered the world, Brittany still had many complications, one after another, resulting in multiple hospital admissions. She was trying to navigate being a new mom on top of going through a lot of physical, emotional, and mental struggles and setbacks. She hopes to connect with other moms, especially those who had a traumatic birth experience, to let them know they are not alone and support them any way she can.
