Revolving Closet — What's That?

Kids grow soooo fast! A Revolving Closet is a place to bring the clothes they’ve outgrown (that are still in good repair) and trade them for the next size up! Hosted by volunteers who donate a spare bedroom in their home, Revolving Closets need to be in every zip code!

Here are the active locations that we know of — let us know if you set one up and would like to be listed here! Click on the name of the location to see more info.

Here are some photos of a Revolving Closet:

As you can see, there are bins for every size of children’s clothing, separated according to gender and season. We also have shoes, maternity clothes, diapers, books, and coats!

We only accept clothing that is hole-free, stain-free, and free of smoke smell.

Often we have families donate more than they take, so we are able to help families that can only take but have nothing to donate. For instance, we have helped a few refugee families, as well as a family that lost everything due to a house fire, and also a family that escaped a domestic abuse situation with only the clothes on their backs.

The Revolving Closet is not limited to low-income families so our services are also used by smart moms who know that if they trade with us, they can have funds available for other things!!

Legalities

Revolving closets are provided by individuals and are not operated or maintained by Momivate. Momivate encourages individuals to host revolving closets and help those in their community, but Momivate cannot guaranty or oversee the revolving closets and what they are used for by the applicable individuals. Accordingly, if you visit or utilize a revolving closet, you do so at your own risk, and you agree to hold Momivate harmless from any claims, liabilities, or damages that may arise from your use or interaction with a revolving closet maintained by individuals, whether or not Momivate helps you locate the revolving closet.

Revolving Bookshelf

Inspired by Free Little Libraries (only, these are indoors instead of outdoors) and then influenced by Momivate’s Revolving Closets, Revolving Bookshelves are just starting to pop up in a few places!

Keep reading FREE (like a regular library) and also STRESS FREE because with a Revolving Bookshelf, there’s no due dates or signing up for a card — and possibly losing it!
